Course Information
Description Continued study of the instruments and control systems used in the process industries including terminology, process variables, symbology, control loops, and troubleshooting.
Required Textbooks Textbook Purchasing Statement: A student attending Lamar State College Port Arthur is not under any obligation to purchase a textbook from the college-affiliated bookstore. The same textbook may also be available from an independent retailer, including an online retailer.

Identify and adjust the various instruments used in the process industries. Demonstrate safety procedures used during cleaning out, isolation and repair of process instruments. (PSLO 4); measured by: embedded test questions, class discussion, demonstration and hands on application. 7. Demonstrate ability to identify all main ideas, supporting details, and vocabulary in reading material. Demonstrates a full understanding of the reading. Determination of
Final Grade
Chapter Tests-25%, Quizzes/homework-25% Final Exam-30% Labs 10% Attendance 10%. 

1. You will have 4 Major Tests and a Final Exam in this class. All tests and the exam are taken on blackboard during a specified time frame. If you miss the test due date and it has to be reopened, there will be an automatic deduction of 20 points. There are "NO RETAKES". If you miss a Test, due to an EXCUSED absence a makeup test will be allowed if absence is excused per the absence policy and is verifiable. If you are involved in Academic Dishonesty, you will receive a ZERO for that test. Taking the Final Exam is Mandatory to complete the course. Lab attendance and participation is required..
2. Homework assignments are to be submitted on blackboard and must be completed by due date, 20 PTS will be deducted if not submitted by due date. Homework more than a week late will not receive a grade higher than 50.

Course Policies
Instructor Policies
1. Cell Phone use is not permitted in the classroom or lab except during breaks. If a student is caught on their cell phone in class or sleeping, the student will be asked to leave class and counted an unexcused absence for the day.
2. Students that are disruptive in class, or sleeping will be asked to leave and counted an unexcused absence for the day.
3. All grades will be posted on Blackboard.
4. The PTAC program has a dress code, failure to wear proper shoes and clothing will result in being sent out of class and counted absent for the day.


I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades, you must come to my office, in person.
Attendance Policy
Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Missing a day of lecture can possible cause you to drop a letter grade on tests.
1. Tardiness: Tardiness (more than 5mins), for lectures or labs.
2. Absences: NOTE: Students will need to communicate with me about absences to receive an excused absence at my discretion. Excused absences  (verifiable) are only allowed for, a personal doctors visit or a Childs doctor visit or an illness that requires a hospital stay, mandatory quarantine for COVID 19 exposure, or a death in your immediate family.  5 absences=drop 1 letter grade, 7 absences=drop 2 letter grades, 9-absences=drop 3 letter grades, 11 absences=F

COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition directly to their local health department. Students should also contact their course faculty to report their quarantine status. In addition, this policy requires all students to wear face coverings when directly exposed to COVID 19 in compliance with the criteria included in the policy. Facility Policies No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
